FCS Conversion Fails: Printer Driver Issue

In RightFax, Microsoft Word documents can remain in In FCS conversion when the workserver printers are configured with the wrong driver or when the PDF module is not licensed. The documented resolution is to correct the RFwork printer drivers so the workserver processes the attachment in the expected format.

Indicators
  • Word attachments stay in In FCS conversion
  • RFwork printers are assigned the wrong driver type
  • PDF module is missing or not licensed
  • Office files do not complete conversion
Resolution Steps
01
Check the RFwork Printer Drivers
Open Printers and Faxes on the RightFax server and confirm the RFwork printers use the correct driver type. The documented fix is to make sure the workserver printers are set appropriately, such as HP LaserJet 4 or 5 style drivers.
02
Verify PDF Module Licensing
If the PDF module is not licensed, workserver conversion can fail. Confirm licensing before assuming the issue is only a driver problem.
03
Retest With a Word Attachment
After correcting the driver or licensing issue, resend a Microsoft Word attachment and confirm the job clears FCS conversion.
Field Note
This issue is often misread as a generic conversion engine failure, but the documented cause is much more specific. Workserver printer configuration is the first place to look.
